“Our flag was still there . . . “
Flag Day - June 14, 2026
America’s 250th Birthday - July 4, 2026
Seems to me that this is the perfect time for a patriotic blog post. And after quite a bit of pondering and searching, I believe I’ve found a creative way to seamlessly incorporate my word of the year—STILL—within this month’s blog.
Feel free to sing along if you want.
O say, can you see
By the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed
At the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched
Were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare,
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was STILL there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Happy 250th Birthday to you, America . . .
And many more!
Almighty Father, thank you for the many ways You have richly blessed our nation during the past two and a half centuries. Help America’s leaders to seek wisdom from above as they make decisions concerning our nation’s future. May we never forget that our flag is “STILL there” because of Your divine protection. Amen.
